The Halal Economic Development Event was successfully held on 22nd January 2026 at DDP Fashion Hub, Dongdaemun, Seoul. Organized by Halal Korea, the event brought together business leaders from South Korea and Malaysia to promote the halal economy, modest fashion, lifestyle industries, and strategic business partnerships between the two countries.
The event was honored by the presence of the Governor of Melaka his excellency Tun Seri Setia Dr. Haji Mohd Ali bin Mohd Rustam, whose visit underscored Malaysia’s commitment to building long-term partnerships with Korea in halal economic development. The forum welcomed distinguished guests, business leaders, and industry stakeholders from both countries, providing a meaningful platform for dialogue, collaboration, and future planning.
Throughout the seminar, participants discussed strategies for positioning Korea as a more Muslim-friendly country, including the development of inclusive business practices, halal-compliant services, and culturally sensitive environments. These discussions highlighted the importance of trust, accessibility, and international standards in attracting Muslim consumers and investors.
The program featured insightful speeches from honored guests, Chairperson Chi Dae-sik, and many other businessmen, who emphasized the need for structured cooperation and sustainable growth. A major focus was placed on future projects under Halal Korea, particularly in the areas of modest fashion, halal lifestyle industries, and creative collaboration between Korean and Malaysian partners.
One of the most significant moments of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with DMDI, formalizing a shared commitment to joint initiatives in halal economic development, business matching, and international expansion.
Following the forum, the Governor of Melaka and invited guests were guided on a visit to Seoul Click Studio, located at the Dongdaemun Fashion Center. The visit showcased ongoing efforts in fashion production, content development, and modest fashion innovation, offering a practical glimpse into Korea’s growing capabilities in halal-friendly creative industries.
The seminar concluded with an active networking session, allowing participants to explore future partnerships and investment opportunities. The event reaffirmed a shared vision between Korea and Malaysia to build a sustainable, innovative, and inclusive halal economy, with modest fashion and Muslim-friendly initiatives at its core.
